Ganador del Premio ArtHyve Archives 2018 como Muse y Selección Oficial en Frameline43, Festival de Cine Documental de Oregón, Festival de Cine Queer de Seattle, Cinema Diverse y Festival de Cine "nahia film fest", "Dogana / Chapti" presenta narrativas de identidad, familia y perspectivas sociopolíticas de mujeres queer indias americanas y personas de género no binario asignadas como mujeres. El título de la película proviene de la forma poética feminista urdu del siglo XVIII, el rekhti, que inspecciona los deseos sexuales entre mujeres y emplea términos como "dogana", que se utiliza para designar a la amiga elegida como mujer y "chapti", un término que denota el roce. y aferrarse a las relaciones sexuales de mujer a mujer.
Winner of the 2018 ArtHyve Archives as Muse film award and Official Selection at Frameline43, Oregon Documentary Film Festival, Seattle Queer Film Festival, Cinema Diverse and Nahia Film Festival, "Dogana/Chapti" presents narratives of identity, family and sociopolitical perspectives from queer Indian and Indian American women and female-assigned non-binary gender folks. The film's title comes from the 18th century Urdu feminist poetic form, the rekhti, which inspects sexual desires between women and employs terms like "dogana," used to designate a woman’s self-chosen female friend and "chapti," a term denoting the rubbing and clinging of female-to-female intercourse.

SERENA CHOPRA (she/her/hers) es una queer punjabi americana de primera generación. Es profesora, escritora, bailarina, cineasta, diseñadora de paisajes sonoros y artista visual y de performance. Tiene un doctorado en Escritura Creativa de la Universidad de Denver y fue artista de Redline 2011-2013 en residencia, así como becaria Fulbright 2016-2017 (Bangalore, India). SERENA CHOPRA (she/her/hers) is a first-generation, queer Punjabi American. She is a teacher, writer, dancer, filmmaker, soundscape designer and a visual and performance artist. She has a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Denver and was a 2011-2013 Redline artist in Residence, as well as a 2016-2017 Fulbright Scholar (Bangalore, India). She has two books, This Human (Coconut Books 2013) and Ic (Horse Less Press 2017), as well as two films, Dogana/Chapti (with Kasey Ferlic, 2018) and Mother Ghosting (2018). She is an 8-year company member with Evolving Doors Dance and was recently a featured artist in Harper's Bazaar (India) as well as in the Denver Westword’s “100 Colorado Creatives.” She is a co-founder and actor in the poet’s theater group, GASP and worked with Denver’s Splintered Light Theater on a full-length production of Ic, for which she composed the soundscape.
